Here you find information in English regarding VISA for Germany and letters of guarantee.
It is not required for Swedish citizens to get a visa for business or tourist trips to Germany, however they must at all times during their stay in Germany be able to identify themselves with a valid passport or a national ID-card issued by the Swedish police.
Please note that ID-cards issued by banks, the Swedish post or other institutions as well as Swedish driving licenses are not valid for entry to Germany.
Foreigners with a valid Swedish residence permit and a valid passport or travel document that is acknowledged by German authorities do not need a visa for tourist trips to Germany that do not exceed 3 months.
For all other purposes for entering Germany (e.g. family reunion, employment, studies etc.) or visits to Germany that exceed 3 months of duration, you have to apply for avisa in advance at the German Embassy in Stockholm.
Please read all information stated below thoroughly!
Your application can only be rendered in person, after booking an appointment in advance at the Embassy if the application is complete and all documents necessary are attached. Please note, that a valid health-insurance for 3 months has to be submitted.

Checklist:
- Read through all information
- Fill in the form and make sure you have photos and all documents required. Make sure you bring the original and 2 copies of each document.
- Make arrangements for a health-insurance valid at least 3 months from the time of your arrival to Germany.

- Be on time for your appointment. If you are delayed or cannot attend the appointment, please cancel the appointment in advance.
